Home, healing, and hope for every child in foster care.
Children and teenagers in foster care are often traumatized and face many unique challenges. Displaced from their home, removed from everything that is familiar, and often uncertain of what tomorrow may bring.
At Hope Haven, we believe that every child deserves to be safe and equipped for the future, so we focus on providing three things: home, healing, and hope.
HOME
The idea of home can be complicated for children who have been removed, especially if they have experienced multiple placements in the foster care system. We structure our ministries to provide a loving home where each child is welcome and shown their value and worth. Hope Haven does this through group residential care and foster family placements.
- Gateway of Hope – A safe, home-like environment to treat, stabilize, and prepare up to 16 teenage girls between the ages of 13 and 17 for a more permanent home. A trained staff provides 24-hour care focused on providing the chance to live as normal teenagers while healing from past hurts and preparing for the future.
- Oak Haven – A home to young women between the ages of 18-21 who are making the transition from foster care to adulthood. A Life Skills Mentor and Case Manager provide a balance of support and independence for these young women, helping them to develop a plan for their future and equipping them to be successful.
HEALING
Hope Haven employs professional caregivers and licenses foster families who are trained with an evidence-based treatment program to care for kids who have experienced trauma. Hope Haven’s treatment team includes licensed counselors as well as mental and behavioral health professionals who can provide support across the organization, leading to healthy and long-lasting placements. These professionals serve children and families through:
- Evidence-based Treatment and Training
- Mental Health and Behavioral Services
- Group and Individual Counseling
- Medication Management
- Case Management
- Crisis Intervention
HOPE
Kids in foster care have disproportionately high rates of incarceration, homelessness, and being trafficked shortly after aging out of the system. It’s no wonder, then, that many teens in foster care struggle as they get closer to turning 18, as they may feel very little hope for their future. We equip the kids in our care with tangible life skills to prepare them for adulthood and ensure they have the opportunity to break the generational cycles of abuse, neglect, addiction, or poverty they may be facing.
The Life Skills we invest in teens through both professionals and volunteers are:
- Education
- Employment
- Finances
- Healthy Relationships
- Mental and Physical Wellness
