What is Hope Haven?
Hope Haven of East Texas is a local ministry providing a direct solution to the foster care crisis. With a focus on older kids and teenagers who are often ignored in the foster care system, we offer group residential care and we have a child placing agency that licenses foster and adoption families as treatment homes.
Does Hope Haven only serve girls?
Currently, we are only able to serve girls in our group residential care, either at Gateway of Hope which serves teenage girls between the ages of 13-17 or at Oak Haven for young women ages 18-21.
How do kids get to Hope Haven?
The children that we serve are in the Texas foster care system. Hope Haven is licensed by the State of Texas to care for kids in foster care, and contracts with the state and other local agencies known as Single Source Continuum Contractors that are responsible for managing care in different regions. In East Texas, the local SSCC we contract with is 4Kids4Families.
How is Hope Haven funded?
Hope Haven is funded primarily through two main sources: community support and contract revenue. Community support includes individuals, businesses, churches, foundations, as well as state grants. Contract revenue is a set rate that helps to cover the cost of caring for kids and is dependent on the number of kids we serve, how many days they are with us, and their level of needs. Hope Haven’s Board of Directors provide oversight of our finances to provide accountability and ensure funds are used appropriately.
